Chinese for Engineering is a supporting textbook for core general education courses for international students of engineering-related majors. It is also a professional Chinese textbook for speaking skills and a series of international Chinese education textbooks for national first-class undergraduate majors of Shandong University.
The textbook is arranged based on the scenes (or themes), and 16 common scenes in the field of engineering are selected (16 lessons in total). Each lesson includes six parts: characters in this lesson, text, words, notes, exercises and extended reading. The textbook has a wide range of contents and numerous learning scenes, which conforms to the teaching needs and characteristics of the majors.
Li Mingqi works as an Associate Professor and Supervisor of Master candidates in College of International Education, Shandong University. His research areas focus on TCFL, language evaluation and multimedia teaching. Professor Li offers Intensive Reading in Chinese, Chinese Speaking, Chinese Listening, Chinese Reading, Theory and Practice of Language Evaluation, Introduction to Chinese as a Second Language Teaching, Modern Multimedia Teaching Research, Chinese Classroom Observation and Teaching Practice, Professional and General Chinese and other courses for foreign students, undergraduates and postgraduates. He has written and published a number of teaching materials, such as The Series of Chinese Listening (Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced series), The Listening Volume of MHK (Level 3) Short-term Intensive Course and one to six volumes of Road to Chinese· Listening.
