Elementary Chinese: Learning through Practice is an, introductory program that introduces Chinese language and culture to secondary school students in English-speaking countries and regions worldwide. This series consists of four components (Textbook, Workbook, Lab Manual and Test Bank) that are designed to teach the Chinese pronunciation system, character production procedure, about 600 characters, basic sentence structures and a variety of topics in Chinese culture. It intends to help students reach the Novice High or Intermediate-Low levels of listening, speaking, reading and writing on the measurement of "Proficiency Guidelines" identified by the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
